compiler linker flags

Further investigation yielded that the problem is with the virtual table
emission from the compiler. The virtual table symbols are undefined in
the object code, which naturally makes impossible for the linker to do
its job.

I am working in a template rich environment and all of this has to work
with shared libraries. All templates are explicitely instantiated. I
tried the -fvtable-thunks flag but that didn't help. Somehow the virtual
table definitions disappear once I send the code through g++.

Which flags could be responsible for this?
