Matrix Manipulations

I believe I sent the original question to the wrong address.  If this is a
repeat, my apologies. 

Currently we are using gcc 2.7.3 on an embedded platform and 2.8.1 on our
development workstations.  Our development OS is HP-UX.  Support and tool
issues keep us this far behind the gcc curve.  

My question is, has anyone found libraries and routines for linear algebra
and simple matrix manipulations (matrix multiplication, scaling,
transposition, inverse) that will work with our older compiler versions?

Everything I have found so far will not compile with 2.8.1 because of its
non-implementation of namespace.
