hm.... what do you mean by 'current'? Keep in mind that libstdc++-v3 is
  experimental.

In any case, I think binutils 2.9.5.0.24 had the .hidden bug. Try
  upgrading your binutils to 2.10, or downgrading them to 2.9.1
