solaris7 on Ultra5

I am running Solaris7 on a Ultra5 machine, and I do not have a C-compiler.  Therefore I
downloaded a copy of precompiled version of gcc (appropriate version) from
"sunfreeware.com", and tried to use it to compile the gcc source code.  But I got the
following error message.

Here is my screen print out:

gcc: installation problem, cannot exec `as': No such file or directory

It seems that I do not have `as'.  Does someone know what's my problem?
