cvs update stops at gcc/cp/ChangeLog

The command, cvs -t -z 9 update, results in several lines of output, but
then stops after:

cvs server: Updating gcc/cp
S-> rename(CVS/Entries.Backup,CVS/Entries)
S-> unlink(CVS/Entries.Log)
S-> checkout (/cvs/gcc/egcs/gcc/cp/ChangeLog.2,v, 1.1, , (function))
S-> server_register(ChangeLog.2, 1.1, , , , , )
S-> Register(ChangeLog.2, 1.1, , ,  )

the uname command output is:

[evansl@localhost gcc]$ uname -a
Linux localhost.localdomain 2.2.13-4mdk #1 Tue Sep 7 18:23:11 CEST 1999
i586 unknown

cvs -v gives:

Concurrent Versions System (CVS) 1.10.7 (client/server)

Would someone please tell me how to successfully update?  I've done it
before, but for the
past few weeks, I've been having problems.
