gcc on HP

Hello,

I'm trying to use gcc on HP UX machine for building a C++ extension to Perl.

The problem I'm facing is, when I use the -b option for linking with g++
an error is reported saying the 

ld: DP relative code in file libgcc.a(_op_new.o) - shared library must be
position
	independent. Use +z or +Z to recompile

Can anyone help me sort out this problem.
Any suggestions would be of great help.
