general problem in debugging shared libraries

Hi,

I often have problems in debugging self built shared libraries. If I try to trace into a function which resides in a shared library, the debugger jumps to the end of that function instead of stopping at the beginning. I don't use gdb directly, instead I tried this with ddd, the Cygnus Insight Debugger and the kdbg. My coworkers have the same problem.

Does anybody know why this happens? Is there a workarround for this.

Any help would be appreciated.
