changing the code generated by gcc

I have built the gcc compiler as a cross compiler for VxWorks on the PPC
platform. I have found, however, that gcc uses the relative
short-address calls (20 some bits). I would like to modify gcc so that
it uses the long-address calls instead (32 bit) so I can have more than
32 MB of memory.

Can anyone please point me to the correct files with some sketchy or
better hints at what the files are for?

Thank you in advance for any and all help.
