Assuming that by OOP you mean "object-oriented programming" (which is the
only expansion of the abbreviation "OOP" I'm aware of), your question
doesn't make much sense.
OOP is a technique for programming. Compilers don't "understand" code or
programming technique, they simply translate code written in some
programming language to another.
If you mean "does gcc support an object-oriented programming language?", the
answer is yes. gcc supports e.g. Objective-C and Java which are generally
regarded as OO languages, as well as C++ which is a hybrid OO/procedural
language.

gcc is licensed under the GNU General Public License. Under that license,
your friend is obliged to provide you, at your request, with the gcc source,
which includes extensive documentation for gcc in TeXinfo format.
