How do I generate a map file

compiler) Cygnus port, GCC 2.95

There are many libraries in the cygnus port. Is there some way to
generate a map file, which tells where each function is imported from?

For example:

function1 ...................... librarya(someobjectfile)
function2 ...................... anotherobjectfile
function3 ...................... somedll
function4 ...................... librarya(anotherobjectfile)
