strange things with .cc files

Hi everybody,


	I'm the sys adm of an IRIX 6.5.4 server with gcc installed.

A user have problem compiling .cc files.
He wrote the standard "hello world" program and when he attempt to
compile 
it he had this error:

saturn 6% gcc prova.cc
as: unrecognized option '-n32'

The strange thing is that if I try to complile the same program I have
no
problem and I can print the magic "hello world" string.

Does anybody know how can this can happen?
