Installing multiple versions of gcc?

Hi can anyone tell me how I can install multiple versions of gcc without
having to rebuild from source. I currently have gcc 2.91 but I need an older
version to compile and test some old programs. Obviously I'd like to put it in
another directory. Is there a guide which explains any environmental variables
that I should set when using the alternate compiler? Thanks.
