crossgcc host: linux (pentium) target: m68332 microcontroller

hi,

i want to install gcc on linux to work as cross compiler
for a m68332 microcontroller.

i allready read some documentation (crossgcc faq, rtems,...)
and tried to compile gcc. but i failed.

my problem is the great amount of different versions
of binutils, gcc, egcs, gdb, newlib, glibc and so on.

can anybody tell me which versions of this packages are
best to bild a cross compiler and which patches i need?
