Alternative patch for the leak in pdt_70.f03

Hi Jerry,

I dropped your or Claude's testcase to make the patch free of any possible
copyright violation. Instead, pdt_70.f03 has been extended slightly to both do
the original test and check this fix.

With that, I am OK with a push to mainline and a later backport.
