gcc  client1.c -I"C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 8.0\include"
-L"C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 8.0\lib" -lmysqlclient

client1.c is taken from a textbook. It compiles in Visual Studio 2022 with no
problem once the libraries are set.

I am an inexperienced user of the gcc compiler.
