I concur with Jon, this is trivial enough not to need any kind of paperwork. 
I've committed the patch to the trunk.  I'm not planning to backport, but I
wouldn't object if someone else did.

Thanks for the patch Richard.  Jon, thanks for marking the regression. 
Otherwise it would have been missed for (yet another) cycle.
