Yes, that part was meant as a hack that we could hopefully throw away for
GCC11.
Anyway, I'll try to finish up the vn_reference_lookup_3 part for big endian,
add testcases and submit that, then perhaps try to do also the pieces stuff for
non-byte granularity incrementally, and leave the rest for last.
