Reduced command line:

/home/dcb/gcc/working/./gcc/xgcc -B/home/dcb/gcc/working/./gcc/ -O2 -c

Interestingly, -O3 not required.

I'll have a look at previous versions of gcc then have a go
at reducing the code.
