Seems like I hit the same bug with following test case. It appear during
GCompris and mednafen application build with GCC8.

$cat book.i.c
a;
char b[8];
c() {
  int d = 0;
  for (; d < 2; d++) {
    b[d] = 5;
    b[4 + d] = a >> d * 8;
  }
}

$gcc --version
gcc (GCC) 8.0.0 20171126 (experimental)
