I tried compiling a snapshot from gcc6 for avr target with mingw.

I configured with:

mkdir install-avr
mkdir obj-avr
cd obj-avr
../configure --prefix=/c/gcc-6-20150823/install-avr --target=avr
--enable-languages=c,c++ --disable-nls --disable-libssp

configure succeded, then I ran make which failed with:
checking for suffix of object files... configure: error in
/c/gcc-6-20150823/obj-avr/avr/libgcc
configure: error: cannot compute suffix of object files: cannot compile
