With GCC 4.9.0 as of 20130728 :

$ cat max.c
int a, b, c, d, e;

void f(void)
{
    if(c)
        goto lbl;

    for(; 0; c++)
    {
        short f;
lbl:
        for(; a; a++)
            e *= f += b ? : (d = 0);
    }
}

$ xgcc -march=corei7 -O2 -funswitch-loops -ftree-vectorize -funroll-loops max.c
