on trunk i see:
$ grep "^[[:space:]]*\-\-with-gnu-ld" libstdc++-v3/configure
  --with-gnu-ld           assume the C compiler uses GNU ld [default=no]
  --with-gnu-ld           assume the C compiler uses GNU ld default=no
