No, the test just should use -fno-merge-debug-strings in dg-options and
make sure it matches only DW_AT_(MIPS_|)linkage_name in .debug_info and not in
.debug_abbrev.  The test will fail even when testing RUNTESTFLAGS='dwarf2.exp
--target_board=unix/-gdwarf4'.
