------- Comment #8 from dominiq at lps dot ens dot fr 2010-08-06 07:46 -------
The test works here with:

Using built-in specs.
Target: powerpc-apple-darwin9
Configured with: /var/tmp/gcc/gcc-5493~1/src/configure --disable-checking
-enable-werror --prefix=/usr --mandir=/share/man
--enable-languages=c,objc,c++,obj-c++
--program-transform-name=/^[cg][^.-]*$/s/$/-4.0/
--with-gxx-include-dir=/include/c++/4.0.0 --with-slibdir=/usr/lib
--build=i686-apple-darwin9 --program-prefix= --host=powerpc-apple-darwin9
--target=powerpc-apple-darwin9
Thread model: posix
gcc version 4.0.1 (Apple Inc. build 5493)

and also with all the FSF gcc versions I have tried.

It looks like a bug in 10.4 which will probably never be fixed. Any reason not
to upgrade your system to 10.5 or 10.6?
