Thanks for the report, analysis, and patch.  I'll look into this later today
(would like to know where I failed when testing my earlier patch, and whether
your patch doesn't do more than desired).  For reference, was this a native
build?  Was it in a fresh build tree or an updated one?  Did you run parallel
make?
