Hi Paolo,

downgraded to 4.4.0 and it still works with cross toolchain for i386-elf and
arm-elf the minimal configuration.
(Compiled with newlib)

My configure:
configure --target=i386-elf --prefix=/opt/local/i386-elf-gcc --with-newlib
--with-gnu-as --with-gnu-ld --enable-lanuages=c,c++
