Older versions show the information too:

$ echo | gcc -v -x c -c - 2>&1 | fgrep -B1 GMP
GNU C (GCC) version 4.3.2 (i686-pc-linux-gnu)
        compiled by GNU C version 4.3.2, GMP version 4.2.3, MPFR version 2.3.1.
