[Bug target/42553] New: wrong code with -O1

current trunk/branches on x86_64-linux-gnu. return values with different
compilers and different optimizations:

         -O0  -O1  -O2  -O3
gcc-4.1   0    2    2    2
gcc-4.3   0    2    2    2
gcc-4.4   2    0    0    0
gcc-4.5   0    1    0    0
