I can confirm that the failure with 4.1.2, however 4.2.4, 4.3.1, and 4.4
all work fine.  4.1 with -fno-tree-salias also works.

Unfortunately this means there's not much that can be done about this as
the 4.1 branch is closed and no longer maintained.
