Yes, that works fine:

$ gcc -c -v -march=native a.c
[...]
/path/to/cc1 -quiet -v a.c -march=k8 -msahf --param l1-cache-size=1024 --param
l1-cache-line-size=64 -mtune=k8 -quiet -dumpbase a.c -auxbase a -version -o
/tmp/ccYMbEr2.s
