Thanks for the bug report.  Your code compiles with 

gcc version 4.2.0 20070501
gcc version 4.3.0 20070704 <-- This is a recent trunk.

You can get recent binaries on the gfortran wiki.  Note,
I'm marking the bug WORKSFORME and closing it.  The gfortran
developers simply do not have sufficient manpower to track
2 branches.
