Are you sure you don't have any of the following env variables set
(see http://gcc.gnu.org/onlinedocs/gcc-4.1.1/gcc/Environment-Variables.html) :
CPATH
C_INCLUDE_PATH
CPLUS_INCLUDE_PATH
OBJC_INCLUDE_PATH
