The assert is trans-array.c's gfc_conv_array_initializer
  switch (expr->expr_type)
    {
    ...
    default:
      gcc_unreachable ();
Here, expr->expr_type is EXPR_FUNCTION.

By the way, the scalar version, i.e. removing "dimension" and using
"ubound(TCg_coef,1)", works.
