I've just recompiled 4.1.0 from the release tarball here -- I had no
4.1.0 build on this computer -- and I get the same message as you.
I reproduced the problem here with
version gcc 4.0.2 20050808 (prerelease) (Ubuntu 4.0.1-4ubuntu9)
When I'll have time, I'll check the behaviour on the computer I was
using when I reported the problem.
