I think it is ok (though Brooks wording is probably better).
Still it would be nice if it would be detected during compile time. In
my case it was burried in an
if(something that rarely happens) write(*,'(''n'')') n
which I wouldn't have found easily without the compile-time warning of
the NAG compiler.
