Hmm:
 tree operand scan     :   9.20 ( 5%) usr   2.05 (28%) sys  11.56 ( 6%) wall  
 tree operand scan     :   3.15 ( 2%) usr   0.93 (19%) sys   4.87 ( 3%) wall
That might mean this is about the same issue as PR 23490.
