System type:Red Hat Linux 8.0 3.2-7

gcc Configured with: ../configure --prefix=/usr --mandir=/usr/share/man
--infodir=/usr/share/info --enable-shared --enable-threads=posix
--disable-checking --host=i386-redhat-linux --with-system-zlib --enable-__cxa_atexit

Command line:
avr-gcc -mmcu=atmega128 avr1.c
-Wl,--defsym=__heap_start=0x801100,--defsym=__heap_end=0x80ffff

Compiler output:
