Hi there,

program gfcbug8
  ! The statement below is invalid code. The format specification is intended
  ! to be a character expression, e.g.: '(i3)'
  write (*, (i3)) 0
end program gfcbug8

lets gfortran die during compilation with:

f951: ../../gcc/gcc/fortran/trans-expr.c:1943: gfc_conv_string_parameter:
Assertion `(((enum tree_code) (((se->expr)->common.type))->common.code) ==
POINTER_TYPE || ((enum tree_code) (((se->expr)->common.type))->common.code) ==
REFERENCE_TYPE)' failed.
gfcbug8.f90: In function `MAIN__':
gfcbug8.f90:4: internal compiler error: Aborted
Please submit a full bug report,
with preprocessed source if appropriate.
See <URL:http://gcc.gnu.org/bugs.html> for instructions.

Cheers,
-ha
