I wasn't able to reporoduce it on i686-pc-linux-gnu.

This might be related to PR18173.

Is PREFERRED_STACK_BOUNDARY != STACK_BOUNDARY in the platform in question? 
maybe that's the problem? (this deson't seem to be the problem thought in 
PR18173).
