I'll bring that patch over to 4.0 shortly.  The tests passed with all of 
my changes on my copy of mainline; apparently, some other change to 
mainline, after my tests ran, interacted poorly with my patches.  I'm 
rebuilding now to make sure I can see the mainline failure; then I'll 
apply my patch.
