20030920 that is very old, I cannot reproduce it with the mainline checked out last night (gfortran has 
been merged into the mainline now):
GNU F95 version 3.5.0 20040524 (experimental) (i686-pc-linux-gnu)        compiled by GNU C version 
3.5.0 20040524 (experimental).

I would get a newer snapshot, you can get one from gcc.gnu.org.
