When encountering application problems due to GCC optimization, often times
the solution whether the cause of the problem is in the app's source or in GCC
itself is to disable compilation optimization (-O0) for that particular source
file. This unfortunately has no granularity and results in all functions in
that source file being compiled without optimization even if only a portion of
one function is the location of the problem. This feature request is for the
ability to define (via #pragma or other) areas of source code that should not
be optimized regardless of the command line parameters used. I believe the
Intel Proton/Electron compiler provides support for this.
