I was wrong, line #24 is

#ifndef _WCHAR_T
#define _WCHAR_T
#if defined(_LP64)
typedef int     wchar_t;
#else
typedef long    wchar_t;  <-- line #24
#endif
#endif  /* !_WCHAR_T */

so what happens is that the C++ front-end fails to recognize that the line is a
redeclaration of C++ built-in type.
