It's still the same today.  Head of mainline ChangeLog shows

configured with
--enable-threads=posix --enable-__cxa_atexit
--disable-libunwind-exceptions --disable-mudflap --disable-checking
--disable-libmudflap --enable-languages=c,c++

Maybe it's a bug in the debian gcc version.  I'll open one there, too.
