Ranier, I think you are right: we should make an osf directory, dupe the files,
and remove the gthr-posix.h unconditional defines.

Do you want to do this? Let's try to fix this for 3.4.2. I think this is a high
priority bug BTW.

I have to say that John Maddock really does have a huge point with the
consistency issue. It's incredibly annoying that -pthreads/-pthread/-mthread
even exist, when -pthread across all would have been much, much better. Why does
gcc do this crazy stuff? Ugh. I guess we cannot fix this particular bit for
3.4.2, although, quite frankly, we should.
