hppa2.0w-hp-hpux11.00 fails in exactly the same way, so the problem
affects all PA ports on which it's possible to build Ada.

I agree the problem may not be specific to Ada at all.

Goeff's patch affects constant strings and the failure is in a string
operation.  However, the fault isn't sufficiently debugged to determine
the real problem.  The failure doesn't occur with the compiler built in
stage1.  So, there is an earlier miscompilation leading to the reload
botch.
