I've tested this with:
GNU C version 3.4.0 20040114 (experimental) (sh-elf)
        compiled by GNU C version 2.96 20000731 (Red Hat Linux 7.1 2.96-98).
GGC heuristics: --param ggc-min-expand=30 --param ggc-min-heapsize=4096

I've cut & pasted the compilation line for the -m4 -ml -O3 -g test
from the nighly test log, replaced m4 libraries with m2, and -m4 with -m3:
