The 'L' edit descriptor prints either T or F, depending on the field width, but
the value printed has no relationship to the value of the data item.
logical true,false
true = .TRUE.
false = .FALSE.
print*,'true = ',true
write(6,'(L1)')true
write(6,'(L4)')true
print*,'false = ',false
write(6,'(L1)')false
write(6,'(L4)')false
end
$ /usr/local/bin/gfortran -static -g lprint.f90
$ ./a.out
true = T
F
T
false = F
F
T
$/usr/local/bin/gfortran --version
GNU Fortran 95 (GCC 3.5-tree-ssa 20040228 (merged 20040211))
Using the "gold standard" , g77, here is what the output should be:
$ g77 -static -g lprint.f
$ ./a.out
true = T
T
T
false = F
F
F
