I can't reproduce this with 3.3.3 20040125 (Debian prerelease) on s390-linux,
so maybe it is already fixed. Can you please try the 3.3.3 prerelease from
ftp://gcc.gnu.org/pub/gcc/prerelease-3.3.3-20040210/
