OK, if you find that useful, I opened PR 14940 for mainline.  I
phrased it in terms of the largefile test to make it easier to
recreate.

I believe that PR 14400 is fixed on mainline for i686-pc-linux-gnu,
though it is not fixed for 3.4.0.
